To increase performance, a new 6-speed sequential Sport Shift automatically applies to all TL models with automatic transmission. In addition to engineering improvements to improve efficiency, a sports-minded double-kick-down function allows the driver to control a certain double-downshift in the fifth to third gear. The throttle system drive-by-Wire TM also creates a “blip” the throttle to help match gear speeds, while downshifting.

Furthermore, the transmission equipment with torque converter clutch multi-nine, which not only reduces heat buildup during operation, but also activation of lock-up for a much wider range of driving conditions that can generate greater fuel economy. As a result, fuel economy city / highway mpg *- 20/29 is now an increase of 3 mpg on the highway for the TL 2011. To further improve operational efficiency, the level of TL 3.5L V-6 engine gets a number of technologies to reduce friction, while a revised air intake provides fresh air for the two engines of 3.5 liters and 3 , 7 liters.

By 2012, two different versions of the Acura luxury sedan results remains: the power unit 280 of the front-drive TL with a powerful 305 horsepower, along with Acura TL Super Handling All-Wheel Drive ™ exclusive ( SH-AWDTM). Standard on the TL 2012 is 17 x 8-inch 7-spoke aluminum wheels with new P245/50R17 all-season performance tires for years with confidence. The TL SH-AWD ® comes standard with the new 18 x 8 inch 5-spoke aluminum wheels with P245/45R18 tires low profile for more agile handling. Finally, when equipped with the package feed available, the TL comes with 18 x 8 inch 5-spoke, while the TL SH-AWDTM is equipped with 19 x 8 inch, five split-spoke aluminum wheels with P245/40R19 performance the new all views all-season tires.

With the new all-new 2012 Acura TL is covered by a 4-year/50 000 miles full bumper and bumper limited warranty and a 6-year/70 of 000 mile power train limited warranty. Additional benefits of ownership include Acura Total Luxury Care ® (TLC ®), which provides free 24 hour roadside service, concierge service and trip routing.

The TL’s styling changes more closely align the overall design direction of Acura as, for example, the TL’s new lower front fascia openings are similar in design direction as those seen on Acura’s popular SUV models (ZDX, MDX and RDX).
